Doomed to repeat the past – Immigration 2010

by Traci 04/30/2010

Arizona immigration law is an atrocity and we must prevent this cancer from spreading.  I understand the frustration of local government as the previous administrations lax laws have provided few options.  But vengeance is not the solution to resolving an immigration problem that impacts over 11 million immigrants(people) in this country illegally.

We must create a Washington were hot potatoes are not passed around doing an election year.  America’s problems should be addressed and resolved regardless of who is running for office and when.  People’s lives and issues should not be the platform and bargaining chips used for election funding and votes.  As leaders we must set priorities and resolve issues not because it’s popular but because it is the right thing to do. If it is broken you fix it – period.

What is the right thing? We need to work with Mexico to assists in rebuilding their infrastructure and economy which will curtail the illegal immigration into the US.  In addition, repair and improve our dysfunctional immigration policies and invest in improving our border infrastructure and patrol.

Better yet! We can do like Arizona and use people as pawns in a game to prove our point or just go back to our roots of discrimination and racial profiling, heck, it work on the black’s - right!

I WILL NOT STOP

by Traci 04/26/2010

I will not stop!
I will not give up!
I will not give in!
I will fight this battle for the voice of the people who have not been heard.
I will fight this battle for the people who have not been counted.
I will change a system that disenfranchises the people it serves.
I will hold leaders accountable for the laws and the decision that they make, that violate people’s right and impedes on their civil liberties.
I will not stop, because this fight that I am fighting is for you!

President Obama pledge of Transparency works!

by Traci 03/03/2010

The President made a promise of transparency and open Government and he delivered!  Over the past year Americans have had the privilege to have access to Government at levels never seen in this decade.

What is the definition of transparency?  There were several to be found but these are my favorite. The physical property of allowing the transmission of light through a material; a methodology which attempts to get as many people as possible reviewing,  with the hope that they will maintain or at least point out bugs in it, improving systems over time.

These definitions are significant because America you are the light shining through the material of bureaucracy.  That is the role you play in Government and this President – Our President has provided us with front row access a bird’s eye view to a system you were all to happy to view from the noise bleed section.

The second definition is powerful because once the light (American) has been transmitted through the materials of bureaucracy. Once you have viewing access the next step is action.  This is action beyond voting, you must provide positive, constructive feedback on issues that impact you and your communities.  You must point out the bugs as they affect you so we can improve the system. Transparency forces the ones being viewed and the ones viewing to action.  Transparency most recently has exposed a broken Governmental system, Healthcare Reform Issues, Senator Jim Bunning and so many decision and decision makers who assist and stand in the way of progress that impacts America.

Thank you President Obama, for keeping your promise of a Transparent and Open Government.   Transparency has promoted accountability from our leaders and has provided Americans with information regarding our Government.  Know we are called to action! The problems of America where recklessly piled under the carpet in darkness, Mr. President you have brought them to the light.
